Life Care Connections Care Bears take on the Peninsula Pirates

In Early June 2010, the Life Care Connections, Senior in Home Support Services with the help of some of the Peninsula staff took on the Peninsula Pirates in a game of Bean Bag Baseball. The Life Care Connections Care Bears were soundly beaten 48 to 16. I guess they don't need our help to play bean Bag Baseball.

For those of you unfamiliar with this popular sport. Bean Bag Baseball has the same rules as regular baseball, but instead of using a bat and ball to hit a ball, participates throw bean bags into a target that has holes for bases and outs. There is even a hole for a foul and home run. When you get a base hit you sit on the appropriate chair for 1st, 2nd,or 3rd base. A home run sends everyone home. The Care Bears and Peninsula staff took our best shots, but were out played, or maybe out "prayed" by the pirates.

Sun, Bubbles, Water and Fun at the Maritime Gig Festival

Maritime Gig Festival Peninsula Independent Retirement Living and Life Care Connections teamed up to man a booth at the Maritime Gig Festival in Gig Harbor, Washington on Saturday and Sunday June 5-6th 2010. Sunday was pretty much washed out, but Saturday was one of those prefect sunny Puget Sound days. Peninsula supplied water and we handed out 2800 bottles of water to thirsty people. It was awesome to provide water during the parade to the thirsty participants. The thanks-you we received are still ringing in my ears and warming my heart.
The parade was great fun and along with the water, we handed out bubbles provided by Life Care Connections. There were 500 happy bubble blowing children by the time the event was over on Sunday.
A great time was had by everyone. We told our stories about senior in home care and living independently at Peninsula. Did you know that you can come and have a complementary lunch at the Peninsula? Lunch is served daily at 12:30. I challenge you to find a better meal in Gig Harbor.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you couldn't come this year, I hope you can attend next year.
